In a study conducted at the University of Washington, scientists have found that making scented or perfumed teas is as easy as mixing a tea bag with a couple of drops of tea.
“The tea leaves are already present in the bag, so we don’t need any chemicals,” says Dr. Daniel Gershenfeld, one of the researchers behind the study.
In fact, the researchers found that the chemicals in tea do not react with water or air to form volatile compounds.
The study was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
A few other studies have found similar results, so it’s not as simple as simply mixing tea and water in a jar.
The researchers used a simple technique to create scented scented and perfumed tea, but it only worked on leaves that had been processed and filtered.
“There is a lot of science behind this, and it’s actually pretty simple,” Gerschenfeld says.
To make the tea, the team mixed tea leaves with some kind of oil, like olive oil, a bit of cocoa powder, and some essential oils.
The oils were then added to the tea and diluted.
When the tea was blended, the oils mixed with the tea leaves to form the scented ingredients.
“I thought, wow, this is really cool,” says Gershefeld.
“This really works.”
He and his team are now looking for ways to make tea with the ingredients in the tea in other ways, and to use different scents.
In the future, they plan to test the tea on animals to see if it works as well on humans.
“We think this is a really cool, new and exciting study,” Gieshefeld says, “that is going to help us understand more about the effects of different tea compounds.”
