I’m fully convinced that paying off debt is all a mind game. I think the simplest way to beat it simply by being positive! It sounds like such a cliche, but sometimes it really can be a lifestyle change. Even though cash is king and money is the ruler of all (or is that power?) a positive attitude can really enhance other areas of your life too! - Keep your goal in mind
What do you plan to do once you have no more debt? Plan an amazing vacation? Save up for your dream car? Save for a rental property as extra income? Whatever it is, don’t forget it! Write yourself sticky notes, put a countdown on your phone to a hopeful financial freedom date, set a new background on your phone. Make sure that you never lose sight of your goal! And, hey, even setting a goal is a goal reached! So as soon as you figure out your goal, go you, you’re on your way!
- Small rewards
I might get backlash on this one, but small rewards can be a good thing! If you feel the end is light-years away, sometimes it can be a little disheartening. This doesn’t have to be a big thing, but do something special. Go get some ice cream, treat yourself to a non-secondhand shop for a new shirt, whatever!
- Surround yourself with a positive village
This is important! You’re making a huge mindset move, and you need to be sure that the people you surround yourself with understand that and support you. So, how do you find these people? Hi, nice to meet you! Reach out and tell me your story! Besides me, you can join or start a group on meetup, reach out to other bloggers, join a Facebook group, or even join a Financial Peace University at a local church. However you meet people, just make sure you find your tribe, your support group, that can help and support you on your journey!
- Workout or yoga
Ok, I know this might be a little strange to some people. But I think it’s totally valid. Yoga helps to clear your mind and focus towards your inner self. It can help to slow you down a little! There are so many benefits to working out, period, though in case yoga isn’t your thing. It can help you sleep better, have more energy, improve your self-confidence, and even improve your motivation! And who doesn’t need improved motivation?!
Have a mantra
I’ll be the first to admit it – I have a mantra. I feel like a crazy person sometimes, but saying it makes me feel better! I always tell myself “this is for a better tomorrow, this is for a better tomorrow, this is for a better tomorrow.” And yes, I repeat it like that. Especially as I’m putting my $600/month into savings. Y’all know all the amazing things I could do with that money?! I could save for 4 months and have plane tickets for an amazing international trip paid for! Alas, this is for a better tomorrow, this is for a better tomorrow, this is for a better tomorrow!
